Real Estate Envy: 10 Fairy-Tale Ski Cabins

Real estate expert Alex Brunkhorst gives us the lowdown on the finest 10 ski cabins on the market around the world.

We love to ski, but it’s exhausting. Who would want to drive to and from the nearest mountain town when you could just ski right up to your chalet? Not us. To that end, we asked Alex Brunkorst, LA-based real estate agent and founder of Bungalux, to give us the scoop on the most fairy-tale ski cabins on the market around the world. From a historic Vail home with ski-in/ski-out access to a Saint Moritz villa with a custom wine cellar to a Park City retreat with a snow-melting driveway, these are the tip top of high-altitude homes.

THE LISTINGS

1. SWISS CHALET
Location: Gstaad, Switzerland
Price: Upon Request
Listing Type: Single Family
Beds/Baths: 19/6
Year Built: 1920
Bragging Rights: The home stands in 15,000 square meters of forest, gardens, and meadows.
Amazing Amenity: 19 bedrooms make this house the perfect large-group getaway.
Professional Opinion: There’s nothing quite like a Gstaad ski chalet to say you’ve made it. So, the elevation’s a little low and ski can be hit-or-miss; it’s Gstaad so we excuse all of it.

2. HISTORIC VAIL VILLAGE HOME
Location: Vail, Colorado
Price: $20,000,000
Listing Type: Single Family
Beds/Baths: 5/5

Amazing Amenity: Ski-in/ski-out access at the base of Vail's Gondola One ski lift.

Year Built: 1997
Bragging Rights: Picturesque horseback, hiking, and cross-country kiing trails right at your doorstep.
Amazing Amenity: Separate artist studio.
Professional Opinion: I like this one because it feels traditional and not trying too hard to be a ski lodge. For those of you who have kids and want to hit Aspen, Snowmass is probably the way to go.

4. MARTIS CAMP TAHOE

Price: $3,100,000
Listing Type: Single Family
